Before comparing prices, compare the products
A price comparison begins with identity, not arithmetic.
Two prices can be easy to subtract and difficult to compare. The missing question is what each price actually buys. A familiar name might cover several generations, a different configuration or a package with fewer included items. Sorting those offers by price does not resolve the difference; it can hide it.
A careful comparison separates three layers. The base product identifies the model. The variant identifies the particular size, colour or configuration. The offer describes a seller’s terms for that item, including its condition and what comes with it. A difference in delivery cost is not a different model, but a difference in capacity may mean a different variant.
This distinction is useful even without a comparison tool. Before treating one listing as cheaper, check the model reference, variant attributes and package contents. Then check the total cost and the conditions that matter to you. A lower headline price may still be the right choice, but it should be a choice made with the differences visible.
Shoperix’s approach in development starts here: establish what can fairly be compared before explaining the price. Where the evidence cannot support an exact comparison, a product-level relationship or an explicit uncertainty is more useful than an unearned claim of equivalence.
